We believe everyone should have the chance to experience, own and enjoy art, whether that’s on a bookshelf or in a dog’s mouth. Dog Ear products encourage creativity, play, mental well-being and critical thinking. We want to change the way contemporary art is experienced, sidetracking the traditional gallery and bringing art into people’s homes. Sustainability and slow making are central to Dog Ear. Lu shared a picture of a DIY dog toy on Instagram to amuse their assistance dog Poly. Emma replied with a photo of her hound Woolf playing with an old sculpture of hers. Dog Ear was born, a place for contemporary art publishing &amp; sculptural dog toys. As two artists who write we have long appreciated the affordability of artists’ publishing. Anyone can buy an artwork as a book when reasonably priced, it is a medium people can immediately understand and a vehicle for sharing information. As arts educators, we believe in life long learning, for pups and humans. Looking at and critiquing work is a helpful way of viewing and understanding the world we live, something we find useful in this era of fake news. We hope our texts and toys are brainfood for both you and your beloved hound. More and more people are seeing the benefits of pet companionship and play, especially after 3 separate lockdowns. Fresh air, mental health and questioning, poking, prodding the status quo gives us perspective outside of our daily stresses. Our sculptural dog toys are made in the most sustainable way possible, with love. We’ve worked with dog trainers and experts to make sculptural toys that doggos love, with expert testers Poly and Woolf trying them out. Materials Offcut fleece materials which we have saved from landfill in a variety of patterns and colours to create your own unique dog toy artwork. It is super soft and stretchy, but strong!). All our packaging, and printed materials, are compostable. Playing advice When you have created your toy it will be perfect for tender tugs alongside catching and fetching fun! The toy is pretty tough for rebel doggos and the weaves are also perfect for hiding treats in as a brain activity to enrich your hound. Please ensure this toy is suitable for your pet’s play preferences, chewing habits and size. No toy is completely indestructible and always keep an eye on your dog when they are playing.
